Does this sound familiar?

I wish somebody understood what I’m REALLY going through.
I want to let go of this trauma for GOOD.
I am NOT a victim of my circumstance or health condition.

Look, life with a chronic condition or massive trauma is hard. Let’s just state the truth. BUT, it doesn’t have to rob you of your success and JOY.  I get it.  I live with a chronic condition.  My body is deformed.  People look at me funny.  And I smile and nod with appreciation and a wink!

Why I’m here for you.

I was a dancer.  My dream was to dance professionally and tour the world and even be a rock star (except I couldn’t sing).  I also have type 1 diabetes since the age of 4.  Compounded by an eating disorder that caused me to become legally blind at age 21.  I had to stop driving.  My dance career stopped before it started.

My First Re-Invention.

Young and naïve and lost I found solace supporting other kids who, like me, had diabetes.  It was my first journey Transforming Trauma into Triumph.

My dance-based advocacy program, The SWEET ENUFF Movement, went on to be a 2013 Top 5 Finalist for First Lady Michelle Obama’s ‘End Childhood Obesity Challenge.’

Did it stop the pain of giving up my dream? NO. Did it give me a new dream and a new mission? YES.

And then THIS happened!

(You almost won’t believe it it’s THAT crazy)

Just when I thought I was getting my life together at 39 (I’m a late bloomer), the unimaginable happened.

I was crossing the street in New York City and I was HIT and RUN OVER by a New York City express BUS.

Yes, I was LITERALLY hit by a bus. I was pinned under the tire.  My right leg was crushed.

Long story short, my leg was nearly amputated. 20 surgeries later it has been rebuilt.  I was told I may never walk again.

While pinned under that bus tire I made a determination in my heart.  ‘If I survive the night, there will be a Victory Dance.

I DID my Victory Dance. So can YOU.

On June 15, 2017, I literally danced again onstage with my professional company The Victory Dance Project.

Through the process, I figured a few things out.  I created a system to help YOU Transform Trauma into Triumph.

I am grateful to have an award-winning book ‘Dance Because You Can.’ I am even more grateful my journey back to the stage has become an Internationally Acclaimed Documentary Feature film.

My goal is now to support as many people as I can to lead the happiest lives possible even WITH our obstacles. (No, they don’t go away).  Together we can make ‘The Impossible Possible with the Power of Movement.’

If I did it, so can YOU.

Much Love,
Amy J
