The road to getting a dream built into reality is long and winding.

 It’s never linear and certainly never easy. What’s the superpower to creating the life we want?

Consistency over time.

In our increasingly unrealistic digital lives, it seems like dreams manifest with the click on a link mentality.  This is not true or possible. What I have been reminded of lately is the power of continuing to show up, make the calls, send the emails, write the proposals.

Consistency is the ability to do the work.

When it seems like nothing is working, when every road is a dead end, it’s admittedly tough. Our belief and inspiration are challenged.  We start to doubt the things we want are possible. This becomes a downward cycle. We stop taking action. We stop believing in our missions. We spend more time doom scrolling or Netflix bingeing. Days become weeks. Weeks become months with no visible progress. Hope begins to wane.

If you are also feeling like a hamster in a wheel of going nowhere, it’s important to note, this too shall pass.

Consistency also means knowing when to take a break. Step back, have some fun and recharge.  Then return to the task with a fresh set of eyes.

Building a strong foundation takes time. It’s not a one post on Instagram wonder.  In 2023, I was invited to attend New York Fashion Week adaptive fashion show Runway of Dreams.  In my star gazed mind I thought, this is the magic bullet I need.

Having created Victory Gear Lifestyle Brand, it was the first foray into the fashion world. Two years have passed. There have been countless meetings, conversations, referrals, open and closed doors. There have been mistakes and dead ends.

I had fallen into the instant gratification trap.  One night at an amazing fashion show, as fun as the event was, is simply the beginning. I was comparing and despairing, feeling the dream was just too hard.  Many roads to victory will present themselves.  Be willing to explore all options. It may seem like we are veering off the path, but each rejection, each seeming misstep is actually consistency working its magic.

It’s easy to take rejection personally and fall into victim mode.

It’s at these very moments when we must re-determine, dust ourselves off and continue down the road.  With each opportunity there is growth. With each setback there is wisdom gained to do better next time.  Applaud your tenacity and persistence.

This is when consistency plays its biggest role. We must trust the process. Hindsight always being 20/20. If something isn’t working, if a connection does not pan out, it’s probably for the best.

Keep showing up. Keep doing the daily, simple tasks towards manifesting our best lives. In the process, we will inevitably do our internal human revolution, gaining wisdom and confidence.  When the goal is reached, the victory will be well earned.
